That about sums up the story of our weekend. :) We packed the truck Friday and Saturday with help from my mom, dad, and brother Mike (thank you!) and then took off Saturday morning. Mike drove me and the girls (I offered to drive, but he refused to be driven by me) and Andrew drove the truck. The girls did not take very well to sitting in the car for a 10 hour drive (8 if you drive straight - with 10 month olds, this was not happening) - these were not their faces most of the trip. I basically had to entertain them the whole time and my butt and neck got sore from the way I was turned around backwards the entire way.
Cups: These were treasured playthings - keeping them entertained longer than most things I said, sung, read (all their books in a row, repeatedly), gave them to play with, or did. They are really loving all forms of cups these days. Anna crawled around with one in her mouth for a while before bed tonight and cracked herself up.
Screams: About every 2 hours one or both of the girls erupted in near screams or screams. This necessitated stopping. As soon as we did, they were both very happy again, which just made me feel guilty about making them sit so long. I know that some babies like to sit and relax and lounge, fall asleep in the car, etc - this has never been ours! They hate to sit still.
Bellies and Tongues: The girls can handle at least 1 new bit of learning a day. Uncle Mike taught them 2 things over the weekend - "pat/rub your belly" - they bang their bellies with both hands - and where there tongues are - they stick them out and Anna likes to feel hers. :) (These 2 are added to the growing list of body parts they know - today I tried adding knees, like in Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, one of their favorites - they showed me their toes and told me "toes" every time I asked them about their knees. We'll keep trying!) Mike, you should be proud of these important contributions.
PS - Sorry so much text and so few words - didn't take any pictures this weekend, but had great cross-country adventures. (And sorry Nan that all the pictures are Kara - at least you're in 1 with her!)

so glad you guys are here and starting to get settled. Let us know if we can help with anything. I know how difficult moving/unpacking is with little ones. :) We are about to do the long car trip this weekend, so wish us luck! Can't wait to meet the girls.
