Rehearsal Dinner Crazies

The rehearsal dinner was their 2nd long night in a row...we definitely had to chase them around and they made us tired in their tiredness. But Andrew did eventually get to give his toast, after which we were able to leave. It was a nice dinner and fun time - one of the many that we would probably have enjoyed a bit more without the babies - but look at how cute they are! Plus I know if we had tried to leave them with someone, they would have screamed the whole time due to their hatred of sleeping when sleepy issues, so it was come with us, or I'd stay at the hotel with them, and that's less fun.

We ran around all night with our mouths open and yelling/singing - the surest sign of tiredness there is. :)

Sorry baby Nan, I don't think you can have M&Ms!

Great butt shots, huh? That's what you get when you climb in your chair backwards, Kara.

Is it a bad thing to let 6-7 year olds babysit your children? They did a really good job! Very loving and attentive. But I guess Andrew's cousins/ringbearer/flower girl Robert and Tanner have a few years yet. :)

First Baseball Game

After some good barbecue chicken and pork (which Anna and Kara loved), we went to the Arkansas Travelers' game. I'm not sure that they or I really watched much of the game, but it was a good time. Kara did well with other people, Anna was a little mama's girl, especially the further past her bedtime it got. :)

We met the big moose (who later tried to hold Anna and promptly gave her back when she screamed and at the same time a fight broke out on the field).

Is it a problem that Stuart and Jeff are having more fun than Kara is?

Anna and I had fun too. Stuart even bugged the camera guy and Kara and Anna made it on the big screen!

Fun in Pine Bluff

Kara and Anna had a lot of fun playing with Tanner - it was a nice break for me, too! She drove them around, played with them, and even helped me feed them. :) Nana read books with Kara and Anna and showed them some pictures of themselves - always a hit.

Tongues

Kara J

June 8th was apparently a smiley day all around the Pierce household.

Another First - the Pool

When we were in Pine Bluff we took the girls swimming at Mimi's condo complex pool - it was a perfect size and totally empty - so we took it over. Andrew's cousin Tanner really loved the babies (more about this later), so she had a great time playing with them in the water. Kara really loved it. Anna was a little unsure - you can see her hanging onto my shirt for dear life in one of the pictures. And of course they spent some time both needing to be held by me, as usual. It's really amazing how quickly my staying home full time has led them to not tolerate dad as well, especially when tired or in need - those 2 days a week he stayed with them in Ann Arbor are ancient history to them, I guess.

Zoo

Last weekend we went to the zoo for the first time. St. Louis has a great zoo - unfortunately we must have picked a bad entrance or something, since we spent a long time in there before seeing any animals - lots of snack shops and gift stands, though! The first animals we saw were the birds. Anna and Kara spent any time looking at animals pointing frantically, waving frantically and saying "doot." We had a lot of fun and will have to go again to see most of the animals we missed! Plus the girls can say "zoo" kind of, so that makes it more fun.

Rhinoceros hornbill - not only was he easy to spot, but he made the girls jump with how loud he was. Giraffes - this baby giraffe (all the way on the left) was only a week old when we saw him.

Zebras - Andrew's high school mascot. And penguins. I was a little apprehensive about these, since the last time we saw them, one lunged pretty far over the glass at me and I had to step back so as not to get attacked. They were more docile this time.

Mug Shots

Anna in the 1st 2, then Kara. I took pictures to show off all of Anna's awesome face bruises (there are 4 - fading pretty fast, which is good). A little too adventurous for her own good. In the first picture this was her attempt at a smile, but she had just smacked her face to receive bruise #4, so couldn't quite do it. Notice that Kara's lips are puckered - nearly perpetually. She's ready to give you a kiss!
