3 stoics now - love! And non-posed kisses - cutests!
August 16th family photo shoot - the first time we made it to church in a while. Alden looks like Anna, I think (Anna's on the left), and I think Kara and Anna look really different from one another...maybe just when Kara makes her scrunchy face like in this last picture.
Sweetie girls and sweetie boy. I had him laying down on this blanket to play (a rarity...he's either not awake, fussing in my arms, or only awake during the girls' meal times, so play time on the floor doesn't happen that much - there's the danger factor too, with 2 big sisses running around) - Anna and Kara spontaneously plopped themselves down next to him. What a lucky little brother to have such doting big sisters! :)
Regarding the title of this post...well, clearly Alden is fat and happy - he weighed in at 15 1/2 pounds last week when I had the girls at the doctor, a little over a week before he turned 2 months. Kara and Anna have been chunks for a couple months now too. I'm slightly embarrassed to report that they were 34 and 35 pounds (Kara, Anna) - >97th percentile. At least they were tall too - Kara was 36 1/2 inches, Anna was 36 1/4, putting them at 94th and 90th percentile, respectively. I spent a long time calculating and plotting everyone, BMI included - what else does an obsessed dietitian stay-at-home mom do? Kara just missed, but cute little Nan is at-risk-for overweight (>85th percentile BMI for age, for those of you not savvy with the politically correct classifications). I'm not worried about a one-time placement in that category, but we have started instituting (more) dietary changes and I've spent a lot of time on MyPyramid for Preschoolers, making sure what they eat lines up with recommendations (fewer grains! more vegetables!). We've also been talking a lot about what foods and activities are healthy for their bodies and why so that they can make healthy choices. So far so good...I need to start my own dietary modifications so that I'm not the one eating cookies and chips and then telling them they can't have any! I still have 15-20# to lose, like I have since Alden was born.
Oh well...we're happy and healthy, which is the more important part. I'd rather have well-nourished chunks asking to eat bell peppers and cantaloupe than skinnies eating chicken nuggets and fries or whatever other "kid food" people feed their children. That stuff's for me, right? :)
