Just a few things of note as they continue on the road to becoming super big girls. I'm so proud of them.
We went to story time for 12-17 month olds at the library yesterday, which the girls did great at. They sat with me for a little bit, and then they got up and walked around and didn't care one bit that I was there...they checked out all of the 20-some 1 year olds and participated in the activities and stories (They were both interested in pointing out things in the librarian's book...Kara included the dog's tongue. haha). They didn't really stick together, which was interesting to me. They were happy to see each other when they noticed the other, though. I was impressed that after the one biggest/oldest boy, they were the first to get up and walk around and Kara was the only other one to be so bold as to climb herself up into the librarian's chair. :) I can't wait till next week - it's just as fun for me to observe them.
Kara's new favorite thing (and Anna has followed suit) - is to try to diaper herself and her babies and her dog. I'm trying to teach her how to do it properly (initially she just placed the diaper on top of her dog and expected it to stay on). She's catching on. This morning I started working on dressing themselves, too. (They attempt this by placing clothes on their heads).
PS - Since I posted this, Kara and her diaper magic continues...We were playing in the living room and Kara walked into her room, and kept coming out and going back in. After about 3 times, I followed her and realized that she had been walking over to the changing table and pointing to get up, since her diaper was dirty!
Anna is progressing in her counting - today she has been pointing to individual items that we're counting as we count (one to one correspondence is the term I guess), rather than just pointing at the book repeatedly. Kara has been doing it too, just is not quite as fastidious about it.
Anna's healed now, but this was a good shot of the rug burn on her nose from when she dove off the purple chair. And typical Kara in her "pearls."
Also new...more hair = better bed head. Kara has more than Anna.

I loved the library story time post. :) I have been thinking about doing that with Clare. I think I will try it now! :) We need to get the girls together, I know they would have fun together...or maybe not really play with each other but hanging out! :)
I am excited for you and Kara and Anna and your weekly story time! What a great activity. I can't imagine any one year olds who would enjoy that more than Anna and Kara. It must be fun to watch them interact with other children, too. Yea for Mondays!
