An impromptu photo shoot the day before he turned 1 month - when he's awake, his face is always pretty grumpy - I think it's cute. He is starting to smile more, though, and is getting good at holding his head up; plus for a couple weeks now he's been actually looking around and interacting with things, which is nice.
This sneer with his upper lip in this bottom L picture is a Pierce family trick (Andrew and his mom can do it)...otherwise I think he looks more like a Shenk, especially his eyes.

He looks a little smaller in person, maybe, or maybe not. Our next door neighbor, who only speaks Chinese, visits us outside just to point out all of his fat rolls. At this age the girls were struggling to fill out newborn clothes and diapers (and both fit in the swing at the same time for at least 4 more weeks), whereas Alden's 3 month stuff is getting tight. They will all have experienced their first hotel stay at 5 weeks, though. The girls traveled with us to Chicago for Caitlin's wedding, and we're going on a little in-town vacation this weekend like we did a couple months ago (where exactly is yet to be determined).
PS (a note that only makes me laugh) - the girls both, individually, told me that the cow on this shirt is "Mrs. Mooley" from this book we read one time last week.
