We went to the lake in Hot Springs to see Andrew's family this weekend (funny pictures coming), and we got to swim in the pool and the lake. We spent 9 hours there and 9 hours back for the 6.5 hour drive - terrific! The girls were very well behaved, compared to how things could have been, so no real complaints.
Anyway, we did lots of swimming this weekend, in the frog pool - which had a sprinkler part = super fun, in the lake, and in the pool. Since our first pool experience the girls have come a long way, and really loved being in the pool and swimming on their fronts and backs - paddling a little and kicking, not minding when dunked (too much), and A is a bubble blowing champ. I'm thinking about seeing if there are weekend toddler swim classes, since I definitely can't take them by myself, but think they would really like it and would hate for them to miss out on something fun just because they double team me.
I posted earlier about how they lay down on the floor to rest when they're tired; this is a new variation - they've started swimming in the tub ever since we went to the beach, K especially, so somehow she combined that with the floor resting, and here are Kara and Anna swimming on the floor in the hall. :) "Swimming, swimming in the swimming pool," etc. is a favorite song. From being the oldest of 5 I know lots of random kids' songs that Andrew's never heard of, and this is one of those.
Oh, might as well add another pet peeve while we're at it: how everyone says "my very active _____ month old." I've caught myself saying it too, there's not really a great alternative, but I just really don't like that phrase and it strikes me as kind of silly. We had a big conversation about where we should eventually live with Andrew's family last night and after listening to my random reasons for not wanting to live just about everywhere (sorry to Mom P and Stu for having to endure them, you already knew I was a little crazy, right?), Andrew has declared me the most opinionated person he knows. I am a woman of strong opinions, I'll give him that, and I kind of like being so opinionated, though it's probably not the best trait. I try to keep the blog about the babies, so you've been spared - these last 2 just happen to be baby related.

The swimming on the floor pictures are pretty funny. Anna and Kara have such great personalities. So fun! Anyway, your beach pictures look great too. I'm sure you had so much fun with your family. Hopefully we'll see you guys sometime soon!
