The Latest

The popular accessory for the week...Kara, our accessory queen, of course also added a necklace or 2.

It's been a while...I usually post while the girls are napping and that hasn't been happening simultaneously for extended stretches much this last week. They haven't been sleeping well at all, actually - they were waking up SCREAMING every 1/2 hour or so last night, so we finally let them get up at 4:20 or so and played until they were super tired and went back to sleep around 5:30. They're still sleeping, making this the longest stretch they've slept in literally days (addendum: Anna got up in the middle of this post and was playing nicely in bed=trying really hard to wake Kara up, so she's with me now). Not sure what's going on with these girls, but we'd love for them to get over it. :)

This weekend Wiley (of excellent toast fame) stayed with us Saturday night, and so we spent Saturday cleaning and getting ready, in addition to groceries, out to breakfast and the park. Yesterday we had a ton of rain from Ike in the morning and mostly just hung out, with an errand and a coffee run stuck in. My biggest frustration (other than the sleeping) is feeding the girls, since they never seem to want to eat, and if I can bribe them into eating, 1/2 the time they spit the food out, but then eat it quite happily when I feed them while they're playing. It takes forever and I always worry they're not getting enough. This weekend Andrew fed them just about every meal, which was a great break for me and also an education for him into the frustrations of my days - I've been feeling lately a little like he doesn't fully understand what goes on with me and the girls.

Apart from hating eating and sleeping (whose babies are these?), the girls are so nice and so cute, and are being much more cuddly lately with both of us. We went to a kid-friendly cafe with Elly and her boys on Friday and they were undeterred by the big kids there - they had a radar for the slide, which they would then climb up and slide down. Anna spent some time pushing around some much bigger kids a little bit, who reacted by staring at her and me like we were both crazy. I taught them "hands to yourself" which my mom says works really well at her preschool, but that just means they put their hands on their bellies for a second before resuming whatever touching of other people.

woah they look very tall & skinny in these photos! do people say they look like you or andrew? i don't really see either of you, except for coloring. i'm sad they're getting so big! love their response to "hands to yourself" though, hahaha.

You are not alone on the sleeping thing...and I only have ONE, who is 6 months older! Clare randomly wakes up some nights and just wants to be up, whether it's babbling, calling mommy, drinking milk, or crying....it takes her at least 45 minutes to go back to sleep, up to of course, 2 1/2 hours! Why do babies do this? They are tired and worn out, yet they continue to be up--in the middle of the night! Ugh! Anyway, we've been sleeping well the last few nights, but that is not always the case. Sounds like you guys had fun on Friday, sorry I missed it. I was babysitting later in the morning and couldn't fit it in. Hopefully soon though! Have a great rest of the week. :)

minjue,
i'm not sure who they look like - they seem like a good mix, though kara tends to look more like andrew and anna more like me. and they are getting tall and skinny - it's so strange to have them looking like girls instead of babies!
