Home Again Home Again...

Jiggity jig. (Or jiggity jog if you ask Andrew). We had an awesome vacation at the beach on Long Beach Island, New Jersey with my family (where we've gone since before I was born and my dad's gone since he was a little kid). We have tons of pictures and stories to share, but for now I'm beat from all the travelling. The girls did pretty well, but the car trips weren't great. We flew into Philly and had a 1 hour 45 minute drive to the beach. That one was the worst, and they cried themselves to sleep for the 1st time (I cried a lot too) - I was with my dad and the girls and Andrew was with my brother Mike, and I didn't think my dad would stop. We also took a day trip to Lancaster, PA to visit my grandparents, who met the girls for the first time. That was 3 hours each way. Then today we had the trip to Philly again. And of course our plane was delayed, but on the runway, so we were stuck buckled in with the girls on our laps for about 45 minutes. So, on Southwest with 2 lap kids you can only sit in the same row if you have an empty seat between you, since there are only 4 oxygen masks per row. We always hope for just 1 empty seat on the plane so that we can sit together. Our flight today was overbooked so we figured there wouldn't be any empty seats and sat across the aisle from each other. There ended up being an empty seat next to me and so I asked the woman sitting at the window if she would mind switching with Andrew. She declined, saying, "oh, sorry, I wish I could help you out, but I need to sit here. I'll hold the baby for you." Hmmm...at the time I almost cried because both girls were on the verge of a breakdown (and did cry a bunch on the plane), but now it's pretty funny how ridiculous she was. To be fair, she was nice to the girls, but I don't know who wants to separate twins on a 3 hour flight.

These happier faces (silly, really) were on the 3 minute drive to Clayton. That's about as far as we usually go, 10 minutes max.
