A Little Bit, Not a Big Bit

I've posted recently about how well they're talking and expressing themselves (I don't usually count, but I did the other day when I heard Kara say an 11 word sentence!), and about how I love their use of adjectives/adverbs and opposites. Combining all of these, their new favorite is to modify everything with "a little bit" or "a big bit," "too much"/"too many" and "really." It's so cute. Kara manipulated me with it the other day during nap time when I left the room (as I do when they are not cooperating) and Kara said over and over "Kara really sad Mommy leaving." When I came back she was up to her old antics of not resting at all, of course. Just to make sure that I'm clear on things, a lot of times when I ask them a question the response is: "yeah, a little bit, not a big bit." Got it!

Needless to say, I hear "Algo a little bit crying" a hundred times a day. Usually followed by my asking "Did you poke/smash/touch, etc. Alden?" The response: "A little bit." They generally use the phrase correctly, but in regards to Alden they seem to no longer understand its meaning. The picture at the top is how they decorated his swing one morning - he had been sleeping, but then was "a little bit crying" due to their decorations and swinging (they yell "higher" over and over again, swinging him as high as they can and jostling him a ton) - until I removed him.

Andrew risked Alden's life to take this video. :) That's Kara crying "hug Alden Pierce" when Andrew tells her to get off...as previously mentioned, she always gets upset when we make her stop smothering him with love. Pardon me in the background...and the death talk - ever since their first Buzzah died (Anna now has a new blue betta named Buzzah as a potty reward) we've talked on and off about it and the other day out of nowhere they said something about me going to heaven and there being "no more mommy, only daddy." I know it's not really appropriate to talk about death with 2 year olds, but nothing else seems to work with some of their dangerous behaviors (also on display this past weekend - nearly drowning themselves over and over), and if they're going to bring up people going to heaven, I figure I might as well try to teach them the truth about it, and the gospel - they can still tell me the Easter story, and know that Jesus died because people were bad and didn't listen to God.
