Is Little Mister Too Little?

Apparently I AM small for how far along I am. At my doctor's appointment Tuesday I measured too small...my belly should be 33 cm +/- 2 cm, and it was only 28-29. Last appointment it was too small by the same amount. I didn't get measured last pregnancy with the girls and it wouldn't be a good reference anyway, of course. So, I have no idea whether this should be cause for concern. However, it has gotten us at least thinking about how Little is doing.

In his favor: he kicks and moves all the time, I have gained in 33 weeks just 7 pounds less than I gained with 2 babies during the whole pregnancy (and I don't think all of that weight has gone to my legs and arms) and the girls were both normal sized babies, he was entirely healthy at both ultrasounds (and not too small), and my body holds onto babies fairly tightly so I wouldn't be surprised if he were late, giving him extra time to grow.

Really the only thing against him is my measurement and the doctor's resulting slight concern. So, we get to have another ultrasound in the next couple weeks just to make sure everything is okay.

It's a good reminder to pray for him more than we have been. And maybe he won't be the 10 pound baby I fear will cause me to have a c-section and be in the hospital away from the girls for 4 days instead of 2? They do not sleep well if I'm not there...and tiredness is one thing, but endless screaming is another.

I'll be praying for Little Mister! If it is any encouragement, I measured small in all 3 singleton pregnancies and had healthy, full term babies. Their weights ranged between 6lbs11oz to 7lbs11oz. Not tiny by any means and all very healthy! I hope that all is well and that you get to enjoy peeking at your miracle again!!!!

I also measured small with both girls and had ultrasounds at the end and everything was fine--which I'm sure it will be at your next ultrasound too--in any case we'll be praying. It is nice to have that last ultrasound for peace of mind, although the cynical part of me sees it as a way for the docs to bill you more!

I'm thinking more of the fact that you have a long torso and a lot internal room for him to stretch out. Your weight is more likely a better indicator of his progress. Are the girls excited for their little brother?!
