As an aside to the usual Pierce Best Babies banter...ever since we spent a few weeks in Hoima, Uganda, in 2006, we've been sponsoring a girl we met at a school where we led several Bible studies - Clara. She was in my small group and impressed me with her faith and insightfulness into God's Word. We didn't talk too much, but when I spoke to the headmaster about potentially sponsoring her, he let me know that she was indeed behind in school fees (she's the daughter of a single mother who also had 3 other children in school). I got to sit down and talk with Clara and her mother for a while one afternoon (I'll never forget her mother telling me that Clara has always loved white people - ha!) and we've kept in touch since (I need to do better). Here is me with the girls, then Clara with her mom.

Anyway, when we sent money for her school fees this year, we sent additional money to help with a water project at the school to improve sanitation, provide showers, etc. (not sure of the actual details). Here are a couple of the pictures the headmaster sent:

I wanted to share because they really reminded me to step back and look at the bigger picture. It's easy for me to get bogged down in the day-to-day, struggles or triumphs, and forget how blessed I am. The wonder these girls have at this running water, and the prayerfulness...it shouldn't amaze me, as it did. I should be daily giving thanks to God for even the smallest things, and remembering Him in everything. As much as it seems to me like I struggle, He has provided so much more than I need.
